Techniques/Typical Uses:
|
Use palette knife, scruffy brush or sponge to peak: Dab tool into wet Fierro. Press down and immediately lift straight up. Repeat with a pouncing motion until desired effect is achieved. Use stencils to create relief designs: Position stencil on surface. Tape or hold stencil with fingers to secure. Use palette knife to spread Fierro over open stencil area. Carefully lift stencil. Let dry. Combing: Use Texture Tools to achieve a variety of designs. Apply Fierro on project surface. Use straight side of Texture Tool to smooth out. Choose Texture Tool shape as desired. Drag tool through wet Fierro. Circles are formed by using one side of the tool as a pivot-just sweep tool around in a complete circle. Waves, zig-zags and more are done by moving the tool from side to side as it is dragged through the wet Fierro. Stripes and a woven look are easily accomplished by dragging the tool in straight or diagonal lines. Wipe tool on paper towel or cloth after each pass to assure clean images. A smoother, more uniform look can be achieved by applying Fierro with a palette knife and smoothing out with the flat side of a Texture Tool . Antiquing Methods: Fierro may be glazed with Elegant Finish Glazes or your own mix. To make a glaze, mix equal parts water and DecoArt Faux Glazing Medium with up to 35% Americana Acrylic color of your choice. Once your project is dry, brush glaze over surface. Immediately wipe excess glaze from surface with a soft cloth. For a more subtle appearance, dampen the cloth before wiping back. |
