Preparation
1. Cut body and feet from 3/4" pine, arms and cheeks from 1/4" pine, and heart from 1/2" pine.
2. Drill holes where indicated. Sand all pieces. Wipe clean and then seal. Sand lightly again and wipe clean.
Painting Instructions
1. Basecoat bunny's face, hands and feet Toffee, shade Sable Brown. Basecoat nose Gooseberry Pink, shade Rookwood Red. Shade inside of ears with Gooseberry Pink, then deepen with Rookwood Red. Blush cheeks with Gooseberry Pink, using small stencil brush. Then dot with Buttermilk. Basecoat eyes Lamp Black, line eyelashes with black, using detail brush, then dot eyes with Buttermilk.
2. Basecoat dress Antique Teal, line with Toffee, shade with Lamp Black. Basecoat apron with Camel, then drybrush with Buttermilk, allowing brush strokes to show. Shade apron with Sable Brown. Paint loops along bottom and top of apron with Camel, using detail brush.
3. Basecoat heart with Rookwood Red. Line with Camel. Dot lines where they intersect with Gooseberry Pink. Shade with Lamp Black.
4. Basecoat flower pot Rookwood Red, then drybrush with Gooseberry Pink. Shade bottom and top edges with Lamp Black.
5. Basecoat dowel with Rookwood Red.
Finishing Instructions
1. Using 527 cement, glue doily around bunny's neck, then glue button onto doily. Wood glue cheeks to face, and arms to body. You may need to clamp arms because of doily being underneath. Make sure to leave room for heart when gluing arms on. Nail brass brad into heart just under the hole, then glue heart onto bunny.
Helpful Hint: Before I begin painting, I place a small piece of masking tape on the places where I know I will be gluing a piece. Then when I'm done painting, I just pull up the tape and have a good gluing surface without having to sand.
2. Wire legs onto body and place wire from bunny's hands to heart from back to front, curling wire in front.
3. Seal pieces.
4. Glue dowel into bunny and flower pot using wood glue.
5. Using hot glue gun, glue excelsior to top of pot and then glue bow to front of flower pot.
