  •     Instructions
    PREPARATION
    1. Sand and tack the door. Seal with Multi-Purpose Sealer. When dry, apply a wash of Buttermilk.
    2. Sand, tack and apply Gel Stain to the rest of the broom holder.

    3. Paint the edge of the roof with Buttermilk. When dry, paint the blue squares with Uniform Blue, using the #14 brush.

    4. Transfer patterns to each piece.

    5. Paint the blue squares on the roof of the chicken coop and at the bottom of the broom holder door with Uniform Blue.

    PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS
    Note: After completing each section, do the line work as needed with #0 liner and Lamp Black.

    1. Basecoat sun and rays, yellow section of rooster, beak and legs, hen, her beak and legs with wash of Camel. Shade with Honey Brown; highlight with Titanium White.

    2. Paint cheeks on sun and shade inside mouth on sun with Cadmium Red. Add tiny dot of white to each cheek. Liner stripes on chicken's legs and feet with Honey Brown. Chicken's eyes are dots of Lamp Black. Add tiny dot of white to each eye.

    3. Basecoat combs, wattles and rooster's wing, apples and heart with wash of Brandy Wine. Shade with Antique Maroon; highlight with Cadmium Red. Add center to dot flower on heart with Light Cinnamon and petals with dots of white. Leaves next to the dot flower are Arbor Green. Apples are "shine" highlighted with white. Add dot of white to each of the "shine" highlights.

    4. Basecoat leaves and rooster's tail feathers with Arbor Green. Shade with Antique Teal; highlight with Mint Julep Green.

    5. Basecoat blue section of rooster with wash of Uniform Blue. Shade with Deep Midnight Blue; highlight with Williamsburg Blue.

    6. Basecoat flowers with Williamsburg Blue. Highlight with Soft Blue. Liner petals with Uniform Blue. Paint centers with Camel. Shade with Honey Brown and highlight white. Add a tiny dot of white to each center. Dots around center are Lamp Black. Also paint birdhouse "hole" black.

    7. Basecoat chicken coop and apple barrel with wash of Light Cinnamon. Shade with Asphaltum; highlight with Toffee.

    8. Shade chicken wire section and boards under roof on main section of broom holder with Asphaltum.

    9. Basecoat weather vane and band on barrel with Slate Grey. Shade with Graphite; highlight with white.

    FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS
    1. Apply Satin Varnish to entire piece.

    2. Attach dowel for perch.

    Note: Use DecoMagic for cleaning brushes.
