  • Brushes by Loew-Cornell Brush Co. - American Painter Series: 4300 Series #6 and #12 Shader; 4000 Series #3 Round; 4350 Series #0 Liner; 4400 Series - 1/4" Angular; Old scruffy brush
  • Supplies - Scrap fabric (for bow), transfer paper, 150 grit sandpaper, 1/2" check stencil, #005 Black Micron Pigma Pen, wood glue, glue gun and glue, 1 silver pipe cleaner, 3 star-shaped buttons, linen jute, stylus, wood screw
  • 3/4" wood
  • 1/4" wood

  •     Instructions
    1. Cut bear and base from 3/4" wood, all stars from 1/4" wood. Cut the base 7" x 3-1/4". Rout around top edge of base. Sand.

    2. Base the bear Honey Brown, shade with Burnt Sienna and drybrush with Lt. Buttermilk.

    3. Transfer pattern.

    4. Base the nose and eyes Black. Add Lt. Buttermilk dots to eyes with a stylus. Drybrush cheeks Napa Red. Highlight nose with a float of Lt. Buttermilk down the left side.

    5. Base the jacket Deep Midnight Blue, shade with Prussian Blue and drybrush on Lt. Buttermilk highlights.

    6. Add Stitches with Lt. Buttermilk. Base the buttons Napa Red and highlight the left sides with Lt. Buttermilk. Buttonholes and thread are Black.

    7. Base the collar and pants Lt. Buttermilk. The stripes are Napa Red. Shade with Deep Midnight Blue and drybrush highlights on with Lt. Buttermilk.

    8. All linework (mouth, eyebrows, stitches on ears, collar, pants, and base) is done with a #005 Black Micron Pigma Pen.

    9. Glue a fabric bow under chin.

    Stars
    1. Base the large star in Lt. Buttermilk, shade around the outside with Deep Midnight Blue. Linework on large star and broken lines is done with a #005 Black Micron Pigma Pen.

    2. Base one of the smaller stars Deep Midnight Blue and one Napa Red. Both have Lt Buttermilk drybrushed on the centers, and stitches of Lt. Buttermilk around the edges.

    3. Tie pieces of linen jute in star buttons. Hot glue buttons to large star and large star to center of silver pipe cleaner. Curl pipe cleaner on each side of star and hot glue ends of pipe cleaner to bear's hands.

    4. Use wood glue to glue large star to bear's body. Hot glue small stars to tops of hands.

    Base
    Paint the base Napa Red with Lt. Buttermilk checks stenciled on the top. Float around the top edge with Deep Midnight Blue.

    Finishing Instructions
    Attach bear to base with wood screw and wood glue. Spray with Matte Sealer.
