PREPARATION: Sand surface; remove dust. 1. Basecoat front, back, and sides of cutout Blueberry. 2. Transfer pattern outlines for gingerbread figure, snowman, snowman's scarf, and snowflakes (if needed). 3. Basecoat snowman Bleached Sand. 4. Thin Bleached Sand to add background snowflakes. (Do not thin paint to dot ends. Save adding dots until last, if you prefer.) 5. Basecoat snowman's scarf Hauser Medium Green. 6. Basecoat gingerbread figure Honey Brown. 7. Very lightly transfer pattern details. 8. Using stencil brush, drybrush cheeks on gingerbread figure and snowman with Country Red. 9. Paint noses of gingerbread figure and snowman with Country Red stripes. 10. Paint gingerbread figure's icing with Bleached Sand. 11. Thin some Evergreen to add vine and pine needles on snowman's head. 12. Dot snowman's scarf with Reindeer Moss Green. Let dry. 13. Paint eyes, lashes, mouths, and gingerbread figure's bow with Lamp Black, thinning Lamp Black with water for lashes, mouths, and bow. 14. Using Dark Chocolate, shade edges of gingerbread figure and snowman. Shade gingerbread figure's icing and just underneath it. Shade snowman's nose and add soft shadow above and below snowman's vine. 15. Shade along bottom edge of gingerbread figure's nose and base of snowman's nose with Deep Burgundy. 16. Shade snowman's scarf with Evergreen. 17. Using stencil brush, lightly stipple or tap Bleached Sand around edges of snowman. (Avoid snowman's eyes, nose, mouth, vine, and scarf.) 18. Using Bleached Sand, highlight bottoms of eyes, highlight top of gingerbread figure's nose, and float highlight across center of snowman's nose. 19. Dot snowman's eyes and background snowflakes with Bleached Sand. 20. Dot Country Red berries on vine. FINISHING 1. Spray several light coats of Americana Matte Spray on ornament's front, back, and sides. Let each area dry before continuing. 2. Drill hole where indicated on pattern. 3. Cut 6" piece of wire. Curl one end of wire into spiral. Thread other end of wire through front of hole; pull wire tight to back, so that curled end fits up against front of cutout. Bend remaining wire up and curl end to create hook to use as hanger. |
