    Product Note
Americana acrylics are artist-quality, water-based, non-toxic paints. They are intermixable and suitable for almost any surface. They are creamy to facilitate smooth and easy brush strokes, and highly pigmented for richer color and one-stroke coverage. The wide range of colors makes color coordination easy - it reduces the waste of mixing to get the perfect hue.

    Transferring Pattern
Lay tracing paper over pattern and draw the basic lines. Lay this tracing on the surface to be painted. Tape to secure. Place graphite paper between the tracing and the surface. Trace with a pencil to transfer the design. Do not trace details until after basecoating has dried.

    Preparation:
    1. Paint back of rocker Antique White; seat and rockers Santa Red; remaining sections Kelly Green.

    2. Transfer pattern to back of chair.

    3. Basecoat* Candy Cane White. Paint stripes Santa Red. Shade lower edges with Blueberry. Add Titanium White stripe hit-and-miss down the center.

    4. Basecoat holly with Kelly Green. Darken Kelly Green with a bit of Lamp Black and shade one side of the vein and where one leaf overlaps another.

    5. Highlight a few of the points with Sea Aqua and pull some highlights toward vein. Add vein and outline with Lamp Black.

    6. Paint bow Baby Blue. Shade around knot, lower edges of loops, turns and back side of loops with Blueberry. Highlight top edges of loops, left edge of tails and ends of tails with Titanium White. Outline with Blueberry. Shade around design with Light Cinnamon.

    7. Glue candle holder to seat. Glue pine pieces around holder and glue ornaments to pine. Glue candy in place as shown in photo.

    Techniques
    * Basecoat: Total opaque coverage (solid). Two thin coats are preferable to one heavy coat.
