PREPARATION
Before you begin, take a mixture of vinegar and water and wipe down the glassware to remove any residue. To transfer the pattern onto a dark surface, retrace pattern on back using a white chalk pencil (keep the point extra sharp). On light surfaces, use a black charcoal pencil. Then lay the pattern down and with your thumbnail, lightly rub the back side, lift and pattern is on.
PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS Glassware and Dinnerware
1. If you are not going to do this freehand, transfer the pattern. The design is simple -- these are known as "M" petal flowers.
2. Using the Bright Gold Metallic, load one corner and make "M's" all the way around the center. (If painting freehand, place a dot for the center and follow with the "M" stroke all the way around to form flower.
3. Leaves are done two ways. One way is to make single strokes using the Round Brush. The other is by loading the Flat Brush and making lazy "S" strokes.
4. The line work and squiggles can be done with the Fine Liner or the Round Brush.
5. The descending dots are done using the end of the brush. Dip it in paint for the first dot and continue the dots until there is no more paint. This makes large to tiny dots.
6. The other decorations are done using the Round Brush. Make three comma strokes and a dot.
7. To accent and make your piece sparkle, touch the petals with some of the Gold Glitter.
Hurricane Glass
1. For stippling: Lightly moisten sponge and dip into Hunter Green Ultra Gloss. Lightly dab a large area, then come back and dab a little of the Bright Gold 2. Metallic and Gold Glitter Ultra Gloss around the edges.
2. Using the #10 Flat Brush, follow the instructions for the "M" flower petals used on the glassware.
3. Using the Ultra Gloss Fine Liner and the Bright Gold Metallic Ultra Gloss, pull out squiggles, outline some leaves and do dots in the center.
FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS
Lightly pick up some Gold Glitter Ultra Gloss and touch each petal and some of the leaves. Use a hurricane lamp with a large pillar candle.
