  •     Instructions
    PREPARATION
    1. Drill three 1-1/2" deep holes in top of chair back for dowels.

    2. Sand, seal, sand again. Wipe with tack cloth.

    PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS
    1. Paint outside top spindles with Olive Green, Deep Periwinkle, Country Blue, Violet Haze, Red Iron Oxide, Shading Flesh, Base Flesh and Flesh Tone, using a different color on each section.

    2. Use the 5 stronger colors for middle back spindles and for legs and rungs.

    3. Paint chair back top Flesh Tone and seat Country Blue with Lamp Black band at base of back spindles and ball on bottom of legs.

    4. Sponge Lamp Black on edge of chair seat and bottom band of legs. With liner and black, line between colors.

    5. Add dots on center parts of legs.

    6. Enlarge branch design to fit your chair and transfer pattern. With Country Blue, loosely slide in branch, working black in to make it a 3-value bumpy branch. Add more black to dark small branch connecting area and under part of branch, lighter where needed. Leaves are Olive Green with a touch, pull, lift stroke, some lighter than others.

    7. Eggs are Titanium White with wash of Country Blue, shaded with Deep Periwinkle. Nest is series of flat 'C' strokes with liner loaded with Jade Green, turning loading with Burnt Umber, turning loading with touch of black. Lighten with more Jade Green in front, darken to sides with more Burnt Umber and black. Darken behind eggs.

    8. Stencil "Welcome to my Garden" with Flesh Tone; shade with Red Iron Oxide on left; line with Violet Haze. Use 3/4" flat brush loaded very dry, tapping in color.

    9. Leaves are Olive Green with Violet Haze lines.

    10. With mylar and stencil knife, cut out butterfly wing stencil. This one stencil using both sides will make full butterfly and for opposite facing butterflies. Use Deep Periwinkle for butterflies on front and back of chair top and Base Flesh and Flesh Tone for butterflies on seat. Use liner and black to make bodies, heads and antennae with airy lines loosely around stenciled area for wings. Use Deep Periwinkle for lines on bodies of butterflies on front and back of chair top and Base Flesh and Flesh Tone on body lines on seat.

    11. Paint birdhouse holes black.

    12. Paint first birdhouse with Flesh Tone, cross lines with Violet Haze, every other square with Red Iron Oxide; add white dots and fence. Roof is Country Blue with Olive Green lines and around hole. Add black dots around hole and front of roof. Add Olive Green lines on roof.

    13. Paint second birdhouse Country Blue with Olive Green pulled leaves, tap flowers in Deep Periwinkle, Red Iron Oxide and white. Paint Olive Green line around hole; add white dots. Roof is Red Iron Oxide and shingles are black with white dots.

    14. Paint third birdhouse with Olive Green with heavier lines in Deep Periwinkle and finer lines Base Flesh; add white dots. Add Deep Periwinkle around the hole with white dots. Roof is Country Blue with shingle lines in black and white dots.

    FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS
    1. Glue dowels and birdhouses to chair.

    2. Sign and finish with DuraClear Varnish.
