Synthetic Brushes for Acrylics - 1", #6 & #10 Flats; #0 Liner
Supplies - Water container, paper towels, palette paper, 1 pkg. 2-1/4" Folk Art Tree and 3 ea 3-1/4" x 3/16" Stars by Lara's Crafts, fine-point scissors, craft glue, old toothbrush, 220-grit sandpaper, tack cloth

Product Note
Napkin Decor features ultra-thin designer napkins and DecoArt Mediums, a combination that makes it easy to achieve a hand-painted look on a variety of surfaces.
Preparation
Lightly sand and tack pieces if needed.
Painting Instructions
1. Cut from napkins 1 square design each for the paper towel holder and napkin holder. Cut around Santa's head as shown in photo for notepad.
2. Apply a basecoat of Cadmium Red with 1" flat brush to all areas of each surface except the fronts. Let dry.
3. Basecoat fronts with Titanium White. Let dry.
4. Separate top printed ply from each napkin.
5. Apply Clear Coat to surface with 1" brush.
6. Adhere napkin design to wet surface and apply another layer of Clear Coat, brushing from the center to eliminate wrinkles and bubbles. Allow excess napkin to hang over edges of surfaces. Let dry completely.
7. Lightly sand excess napkin from edges of surfaces.
8. Use #6 flat brush to add Cadmium Red border to paper towel holder. Paint above and below border Wedgewood Blue.
9. Use liner to add Wedgewood Blue stripes to notepad background.
10. With toothbrush, spatter* Taffy Cream over top portion of paper towel holder.
11. Basecoat 4 trees Holly Green and 3 stars Cadmium Yellow. Spatter stars lightly with Cadmium Red.
Finishing Instructions
1. Glue stars and trees to surfaces, referring to photo for placement.
2. Use handle end of liner brush to apply a 1/3" thick layer of Snow-Tex to bottom of paper towel holder to create a sloping hill. Also apply Snow-Tex to trees.
3. When all pieces are dry, seal with Clear Coat for added durability.

Techniques
*Spatter: Thin to consistency of heavy cream. Dip an old toothbrush in color. Drag thumbnail through bristles. A fan brush with stiff bristles also works well.
