PREPARATION
1. Paint broom handle and dust pan with Wood Sealer. When dry, basecoat Lamp Black.
2. Divide broom handle into 5 sections, all approximately the same size. Separate each section with 1.5" band painted with Hauser Light Green. Frame each green band with 1/4" stripe of Pumpkin.
3. Paint over Hauser Light Green with Thermal Green and Pumpkin with Torrid Orange.
PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS
BROOM
1. Paint random candy corns in top and bottom sections. Candy corns are basecoated with Light Buttermilk. When dry, paint bottom stripe Pumpkin and middle stripe Cadmium Yellow. Overcoat these with Torrid Orange and Scorching Yellow.
2. Use Best Stroke to freehand random stars with Cadmium Yellow and Hauser Light Green. When dry, overcoat with Scorching Yellow and Thermal Green.
3. Undercoat pumpkins with Light Buttermilk, then paint with Pumpkin, then overcoat with Torrid Orange. Stems are Hauser Light Green. Eyes, noses and mouths are Lamp Black. Moons are Cadmium Yellow, using Best Liner.
4. Paint brush tip dots of Dioxazine Purple in Pumpkin stripes.
5. Use pen to make spider webs. Use pouncer to make spider bodies with Lavender. Float Electric Blue and Thermal Green across bottom of spiders to tint. Fill eyes in with Light Buttermilk and add Lamp Black pupils. Spider smiles are Driftwood. Legs are Lamp Black, using Best Liner.
TREAT PAN
1. Double load large flat brush with Lamp Black and Dioxazine Purple. Slip-slap this into sky area. Dry.
2. Freehand stars and moon pattern.
3. Transfer witch and jack-o-lantern pattern with light graphite paper and basecoat as follows:
4. Witch's skirt and jack-o-lanterns - Pumpkin, then Torrid Orange;
5. Face and hands - Medium Flesh;
6. Legs and shirt - Light Buttermilk;
7. Broom handle, hat band, some stars and jack-o-lantern stems - Hauser Light Green, then Thermal Green;
8. Remainder of stars, broom straw and moon - Cadmium Yellow, then Scorching Yellow;
9. Hat and spider body - pounce with Lavender;
10. Shoes - Neutral Grey.
11. Float Terra Cotta on face in hair area and at wrists. Float Cadmium Orange to form cheek and redden nose. Eye and smile are Lamp Black lines. Highlight cheek and nose with dots of Light Buttermilk.
12. Float Dioxazine Purple to shade shirt around sleeves. Use Best Liner to paint Hauser Light Green dots. Overcoat these with Thermal Green.
13. Float Dioxazine Purple down both sides of hat crown. Paint Electric Blue in middle to tint. Line edge of hat with Orchid. Line hair with Driftwood, then Titanium White.
14. Float Alizarin Crimson to shade skirt at waist and in fold at back. Stripe stocking with Hauser Light Green, then Thermal Green.
15. Highlight across tops of shoes with Driftwood.
16. Paint spider same as for broom, except legs are Driftwood. Use Best Liner to add horizontal lines on right with Cadmium Yellow.
17. Add lines of Terra Cotta in the broom straw. Bands holding straw onto broom stick are Driftwood.
18. Float Alizarin Crimson to shade jack-o-lanterns on sides, across bottoms and to separate ridges. Eyes are Titanium White with Lamp Black pupils and outlines. Other features are also Lamp Black.
19. Use rake brush to paint grass with Thermal Green. Paint "wind" lines under broom with Driftwood, using rake brush.
20. Use Best Liner with Cadmium Yellow to line top surface of skirt and witch's hat and to add "starlight" to any other places desired.
FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS - Seal both pieces with Multi-Purpose Sealer.
