DecoArt Products Required
Brushes - Loew-Cornell, Royal or Eagle - #3 Round; #2 JS Liner; 1/2" Flat; #2 Fab
Supplies - Brush basin, palette, paper towels, tracing & transfer paper, pencil, stylus, scotch tape, scissors, sandpaper, tack cloth, screwdriver, wood glue

6" X 6" Hinged Tea Box

PREPARATION
1. Remove hinges and screws.
2. Paint entire box Titanium White, inside and out.
3. When dry, sand and tack. Add second coat if needed.
4. Paint lid top, bottom sides and bottom with 10:1 mix of White Pearl and Green Pearl.
5. Lid edges are painted when box is complete with a mix of Cherry Red, Plum, white and Faux Glazing Medium.
6. Paint inside of lid and box Blue Chiffon. When dry, apply one coat of pearl mix.
7. Transfer pattern lightly. Use ruler to draw straight lines.
PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS
Note: Add Faux Glazing Medium to brush-mixed colors and apply with #3 round brush, then stipple with #2 fab brush.
1. Flowers 1, 2 and 3 on pattern are painted with Napthol Red plus Cadmium Yellow. (Some white may be added.) Stipple shade with Napthol Red.
2. Flower 4 is Napthol Red stipple shaded with Cherry Red. Add a second shade of Prussian Blue.
3. Flowers 5 and 6 are Napthol Red plus Plum. Stipple shade Cherry Red.
4. Flower 7 is Cherry Red. Stipple shade Plum and second shade Prussian Blue.
5. Flowers 8 and 9 are Plum, though some Cherry or White may be added. Stipple shade with Prussian Blue.
6. Using the colors on your palette, paint the cups on sides of box, using smaller brushes.
7. Stipple stems with Hauser Medium Green and Faux Glazing Medium. Highlight here and there with Hauser Light Green and shade with Antique Green.
8. Paint cup handle and insides of cups and saucers Blue Chiffon (with no glazing medium). Shade with Prussian Blue plus Faux Glazing Medium by patting in place.
9. Do trim strokes on flowers and cups and saucers with Blue Chiffon.
10. Paint box edges as follows: Corners Plum; highlight center with white (dirty brush). First square and every other one Hauser Medium Green; highlight center with white (dirty brush). Other squares Antique Green with white center highlight.
11. Paint box bottom with 1/2" flat brush and combination of greens plus white.
12. Do line work with Payne's Grey and water.
FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Allow to dry overnight.
2. Erase any visible tracing marks. Apply 5 coats of DuraClear Gloss Varnish, wet sanding after third coat.
3. Apply a touch of wood glue to hold tea bag separator in place. Replace hinges and screws.
