  • 1/8" Birch Plywood, 1/4" Birch Plywood, 3/4" Pine

  •     Instructions
    PREPARATION
    1. Transfer pattern for hearts, collar and wings to 1/8" plywood. Cut two hearts, one collar and set of wings.

    2. Transfer pattern for sign, candy cane, gingerbread boy and peppermint to 1/4" plywood. Cut out; drill 1/16" hole in top of each.

    3. Transfer pattern for gingerbread girl and stand to 3/4" pine. Cut out; drill 1/16" holes in hands. Drill set screw holes in stand.

    4. Sand all wood pieces with 100-grit, then 220-grit sandpaper. Round edges of all pieces except stand on belt or hand sander.

    5. Seal with Wood Sealer.

    PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS
    1. Basecoat wings, collar, sign and top of stand with Burnt Umber. Let dry.

    2. Sand with 220-grit sandpaper. Apply a coat of Weathered Wood to front of sign, wings and collar and top of stand. Let dry.

    3. Using a large, flat brush and working quickly, paint wings, collar, sign and top of stand with Toffee. Let dry.

    4. Basecoat as follows: Terra Cotta - hands, feet and face of large gingerbread girl and entire small gingerbread boy; Light Buttermilk - candy cane and peppermint; Country Red - two hearts, gingerbread girl's dress, 3/4" border around top of stand and edges of stand; Black Forest Green - edges and border of sign.

    5. Transfer pattern details. Shade face, hands and feet of gingerbread girl with Dark Chocolate. Use #1 round brush to paint icing with Light Buttermilk. Blush cheeks with Country Red. Dot eyes with Lamp Black. When eyes are dry, add Lt. Buttermilk dot to each eye and cheek. Mouth is a line of thinned Antique Maroon.

    6. Shade collar, wings, sign and stand with Sable Brown. Deepen shading on stand and sign with a float of Dark Chocolate.

    7. Use #4 flat brush and thinned Antique Maroon to paint plaid stripes on dress. Outline stripes with Glorious Gold. Shade dress down sides and on sleeves with Antique Maroon.

    8. Shade sign border with Black Green. Lettering is Lamp Black. Drop shadow lettering with Country Red. Stitching lines are Black Forest Green. Shade hearts with Antique Maroon. Dots on hearts are Glorious Gold.

    9. Squiggly line on stand is Glorious Gold. Dots are Black Forest Green.

    10. Stripes on peppermint are Black Forest Green. Shade stripes with Black Green next to edges and center. Thin lines between stripes are Country Red. Shade peppermint with Sable Brown.

    11. Stripes on candy cane are Country Red. Shade stripes with Antique Maroon. Outline stripes with a double line of Country Red. Shade Light Buttermilk stripes with Sable Brown. Highlight red stripes with a dry brush of Light Buttermilk.

    12. Shade gingerbread boy with Dark Chocolate. Blush cheeks with Country Red. Dot eyes with Lamp Black. Mouth is thin line of Antique Maroon. Icing is Light Buttermilk.

    FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS
    1. Glue and nail wings to back of gingerbread girl, and collar to dress.

    2. Glue hearts to sign. Attach peppermint, gingerbread boy and candy cane to sign with 24-gauge wire.

    3. Glue gingerbread girl to stand and attach with drywall screws.

    4. Spray all pieces with Americana Matte Spray. Lightly spatter all with thinned Light Buttermilk, then Lamp Black.

    5. Tie bow and glue to collar. Thread linen thread through button and tie bow. Glue button to fabric bow.

    6. Attach sign to girl's hands with 19-gauge wire.

    7. Tie metallic gold embroidery floss around peppermint and green raffia bow around candy cane. Tie small fabric bow and glue to small gingerbread boy.

    8. Twist artificial greenery into a 2-1/2" circle. Trim greenery so pine needles are about 3/8" long. Hot glue red berries on circle. Glue circle on gingerbread girl's head.
