Spotlight:  Debbie Cole

Debbie is a self-taught decorative painter and mixed media artist who has loved to create since childhood. Author of numerous books and pattern packets, Debbie is a sought-after instructor who has taught throughout the United States, Japan, Argentina, and Canada. Inspired by nature and nostalgia, Debbie enjoys painting both whimsical and realistic images. While she is proficient in watercolor, colored pencils, mixed media, and oils, her favorite medium is bottled acrylics. Best known for its attention to detail, Debbie’s work encompasses a wide range of subjects including animals, flowers, fruit, seasonal, and whimsical designs. Debbie was a licensed artist for over a decade. Her artwork has been found on many gift products, dinnerware, home décor items, fabric, greeting cards, and more. She has served as editorial advisor and is a frequent contributor to many leading decorative arts and mixed media publications. She has been a member of the Society of Decorative Painters since 1990 and received the prestigious title of Certified Decorative Artist in 1997.

For three years, Debbie worked as the artistic consultant for Stampendous where she created the Stamp & Paint Program for them. It has been her passion to bring new and innovative techniques into the decorative painting community. She was very excited and honored to be the 2016 Convention Artist for the SDP. It truly was the highlight of her career.
