Spotlight:  Sandy LeFlore

This month’s Artist Spotlight is Sandy LeFlore.

“Art has always been important to me, although it’s taken many different forms throughout the years. From cooking to crafting to sewing, I was always creating something. I majored in art and illustration in High School and always dreamed of illustrating children’s books, but life has a way of adjusting your dreams.

“In 1988 I took my first tole painting class and knew my dream of illustrating was being adjusted just a tad. I began teaching classes and publishing my own designs in 1994. That led to a 3-year stint managing a local decorative painting shop which in turn led to working at painting conventions, selling my wares. In 1998 my first book Just Snow You Know was published. Over the next several years, six more books followed, along with over 550 design packets to date, most of which can be found on my website at www.justfinedesigns.com. I also love to teach and share with others the things I’ve learned over the years. I am fortunate enough to travel across the United States teaching at different Society of Decorative Painters chapters and conventions.

“I live in sunny Southern California with my husband of 40 years, Jay, who is a retired law enforcement officer. We have three grown children and five grandchildren, ranging in age from 19 down to 2-1/2 years old. They don’t all live nearby, so we travel as often as we can to visit and spoil them. I have been blessed with a wonderful family and with the opportunity to do what brings me joy… life is good.”
