Spotlight:  Susie Wolfe

This month’s Artist Spotlight is Susie Wolfe.

Susie lives in Sylmar, California, located in the San Fernando Valley, near Los Angeles. She began painting in 1986, started teaching a few years later, and became one of the early DecoArt Helping Artists. She then worked closely with DecoArt for many years as a consultant, working in our booth at various conventions throughout the country. Susie has taught decorative painting throughout the United States and internationally.

She’s been an active member of the Society of Decorative Painters, serving in every office of her local local chapter, as chairman of the SDP Teacher Committee for two years, and as a member of the task force that created the teacher development program. In the SDP certification program, she passed the Certified Decorative Artist (CDA) in 1988, the stroke tray portion of the Master Decorative Artist in 1991, and became a Teaching Decorative Artist in 2001.

She set aside painting for several years to be the primary caregiver for her husband who passed away in 2010. After being contacted by DecoArt to work on a few projects, she rediscovered her passion for painting. Her love of color theory and painting faces is still there, but she is now utterly enthralled with mixed media, assemblage, altered books, etc. etc. Exploring these new styles to incorporate with familiar techniques is exciting and invigorating and sparks endless ideas!

Susie’s pattern packets are available from Bear With Us, Inc. Look for several new packets in time for the upcoming 2016 creative painting convention in Las Vegas.
