Pretty Good Paint But I'd Make Some Changes
"What I like about this paint is it dries smoothly and with no bubbles, and the colors are strong and vibrant. But they aren't glossy enough to my liking. I like paints that shimmer with that reflective jewel-like sheen: they look more like real stained glass. Also -- and this is a minor issue -- I'd prefer the long pointy applicator tip that Gallery Glass has because I apply it to sheet glass in the same way as GG."

Lovely paints not enough colors
"The paints are perfect for faux suncatchers and stained glass effects. I wished there were more colors available, whites for instance then you could make other colors lighter, pearlescent would be great too. Because of the lack of color options, I am forced to look at other competitors translucent glass paints. Fun for projects and I’ll keep my eye out for if they ever offer more color options."

Q&A
- I have decorative, but clear glass jars I want to use to store cooking oils on my countertop. I know the jars need to be darkly colored to provide UV protection to the oil. Does your stained glass paint do that? I do not understand the term "UV stable" used in a reply to another question on here. For me, can you compare the UV protection of this stained glass paint and that of a traditional dark green container in which the olive oil is sold originally? Does the choice of color of stained glass paint matter? Blue, Green, etc.? Thank you so much!
- Hi Jane, thank you for reaching out. The short answer is no, acrylic paints (especially transparent types) will not provide the same type of protection that the glass containers oils are purchased in give. Those amber and green glass bottles have been manufactured and specifically colored to filter out damaging uv wavelengths. We have not had any specific testing completed on the Stained Glass paints to determine their level of UV protection.
- Is there a sealant for the acrylic paint that can be applied to glass?
- Hi Kimber. For our acrylic paints, you can use our Duraclear Varnishes or our Triple Thick Gloss Glaze. Both can be used on glass surfaces for decorative use only.
- Do the paints HAVE to be baked to cure? I wanted to apply to a very large window to large to bake. Can the window be hung outside under a porch. Or should I seal it with something
- Hi Gretta, thank you for your question. This product takes 21 days to air cure. Since we have not tested this product in outdoor conditions, we do not have a definite answer. - Can I use this paint on a light bulb that will get hot?
- Hi Yvonne, thank you for your question. We would not recommend putting this paint on a lightbulb that will conduct a lot of heat.
- Do the colors fade when placed in a window? Can I seal the piece with UV protection spray coating? Will the paint peel off if left in the sun or after a certain amount of time?
- Hi Valerie, thank you for your question. Our Stained Glass Paints all have very good to excellent ratings regarding lightfastness and is UV stable. You can definitely seal it for extra protection, but is not necessarily needed.
