Bright and Colorful Summertime Salad Tongs

Serve up pops of color with these bright and summery salad tongs, painted with Americana® Multi-Surface Acrylics.
SUPPLIES
- painter's tape
- wooden salad servers
- newspaper
- 3/4" flat paintbrush
- fine tip paintbrush
INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Protect the work surface with a sheet of newspaper or parchment paper.
Repeat with as many coats as needed to achieve desired coverage.
Allow paint to fully dry between steps and when changing to a new color.
- Wrap a piece of painter’s tape about 1” from the end of each wooden handle.
- Using a 3/4" flat paintbrush, paint the end of one handle in Flamingo and the other in Canary.
- Remove the painter’s tape.
- Wrap another couple pieces of tape at differing widths for the second stripe.
- Paint a second stripe on each handle in Cotton Ball.
- Remove the painter’s tape.
- Wrap another couple pieces of tape at differing widths for the third stripe.
- Paint a third stripe on each handle in Apple Green. Remove the painter's tape.
- Continue removing and applying painter’s tape for the stripes along the entire length of the handles.
- Paint the fourth stripe in Flamingo on one handle and Cotton Ball on the other handle.
- Paint the fifth stripe in Apple Green on one handle and Canary on the other handle.
- Paint the sixth stripe in Canary on one handle and Flamingo on the other handle.
- Paint the seventh stripe in Cotton Ball on one handle and Apple Green on the other handle.
- Dip the handle end of the 3/4" flat brush in Cotton Ball.
- Dab medium-sized dots on the wider Apple Green stripe.
- Use the handle end of the fine tip paintbrush, dipped in Apple Green, to dab small dots on the wider Cotton Ball stripes.
- Add as many or as few dots as desired and repeat on both sides of the salad servers.
- To finish, apply a coat of Light Satin Varnish over the painted handles. Allow them to dry fully before using.
