Rococo-Inspired Painted Vase
Create something fun, dimensional, and inspired using DecoArt's Frosting, Metallics, and Americana Acrylic Paints.

Use paint in a piping bag?
Yes! Frosting is a dimensional paint perfect for use with a piping bag. Once it dries, it's permanent and holds shape. This fun project seamlessly combines the past and the present, with a nod to the Rococo era's aesthetic, infused with recent pop culture visuals. This project can be done on canvas, wood, or even an upcycled vase. It can also be modified to accommodate a wide range of skill levels.
Get prepared
Gather your supplies and cover your workspace with a non-stick surface. Make a Frosting bullet to place into your piping bag for easy clean up and to use your piping bag again. You can practice piping designs on the freezer paper beforehand and then scoop up wet Frosting and place it back into the container.

If using the template for the central design, print, cut, and paint the design using your desired Americana Acrylic paint colors. Americana can be mixed with a bit of water to create a watercolor effect. Allow to dry before decoupaging onto the painted board (described in later steps).
Create a vase template and paint your surface
To create a vase shape, take a piece of paper the size of your surface (tape multiple pieces together, if needed) and fold it in half vertically. Draw on half of a vase shape. (Find inspiration for shapes by looking at Rococo vases!) Once drawn, cut out the shape, and when unfolded, you will have a symmetrical vase shape to trace onto your surface. Paint the background and the vase shape with your desired Americana colors and allow to dry.
Try some techniques
Paint a lighter, central oval/circle where you will place your painted Labubu design. Around the edges of that shape, get a lacy look by drawing on scallop edges using the Love Color 3D Acrylic Writer, then using a brush, drag down the inner edges. Allow to dry. Place a writer top onto the 24K Gold Extreme Sheen to create the background pattern. Replicate the lacy design inside the white area using the same technique. Allow to dry.
Once you have your desired placement, decoupage the painted Labubu onto the center of the vase design.
Make it cute and get creative
Now it is time to use the Love Color Frosting to bring in some dimensional elements. Pipe Frosting onto the shape of the vase. Create bows and other decorative shapes. Try swirling/dragging a small liner brush through some parts of the piped Frosting to create patterns and textures. Try different piping tips in different areas for variety.
Ensuring your painting is on a non-stick surface, pipe some Frosting around the outer edge to create a frame. Allow to dry overnight.
Add some pearlescence to the Frosted areas by brushing/rubbing on Metallic Lustre to enhance the textures.
